The tools and equipment used for the workshops at BVB include 3 coke fired forges, a NC Whisper Daddy propane fueled forge, and a Johnson 133 four burner gas forge (this one really warms up the shop). There are six anvils, three of which are over two hundred pounds! The power hammers include s Sahinler SM 50 pneumatic hammer, a KA 75 single blow hammer, and a treadle hammer. An assortment of hammers, tongs, punches, and chisels round out the collection. Just do not touch Steve's hammer!
Steve has an extensive collection of blacksmithing reference materials as well including books from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, and the U.S. along with an extensive archive of the Anvils Ring and Hammers Blow publications from the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America. A nearly complete collection of the Blacksmiths Journal from Hoffman Publications is available for review as well.
If you spend a little time browsing the site and looking through some of the production diary's found here, you will get a good feel for the shop and its layout.
