New Facilities Update

In spite of man’s attempts to keep every goal that is set, there’s bound to be missed goals when one considers new construction! In our January newsletter, Badger Village Blacksmithing was anticipating a move into our new facilities that month … well, how do we feel about Spring instead? As we prepare to move our offices from the Hackbarth home to the actual site, we are also in process of completing some of the final steps of construction.

The parking lot is leveled and ready to be poured

Cement is poured …

Completed parking lot!      Front office

With the office currently located in the Hackbarth home, it will be another project to organize and set up our new office in Merrimac!  We are excited about having Badger Village Blacksmithing all in one convenient location and our retail gallery set up and ready for visitors.

Lighting of the Forge

After the major construction was completed, we were able to set up shop.  The image on the left displays our completed double top forge and the new Sahinler SM 50 Power hammer. The forge has drop down sides and a removable center rail. It features two coke burning firepots and measures approximately 3’8” by 9’.  On the right, Steve fires up the forge for the first time in our new shop!

 New Faces

Badger Village Blacksmithing has welcomed two new employees into the company!

John Wright joined us in October of last year and has already proven to be a valuable asset.  He has been quickly learning the craft of blacksmithing and has a high appreciation for detail and quality.  His workmanship to date has been an asset to our company and he is showing promise of being a crucial part in helping to design new products for our product line!  He and his wife Brooke are active in rock climbing, biking, snowboarding/skiing, and other outdoor activities.

Jaime Sundsmo came in January of this year with a background in sales, marketing, and clerical work.  She has undertaken the process of helping to incorporate the new accounting system for Badger Village Blacksmithing as well as working on much of the marketing research and marketing implementation.  She was married on April 1st , 2000 to her husband Nathan.  They are active leaders with the community Jr. High youth ministry.

BVB Catalogue Update

As promised, we are working hard to have our new product catalogue available by the beginning of this month.  We have set up a photography center in our new building so we can take quality photographs of the products Badger Village Blacksmithing offers.  We aim to effectively communicate the craftsmanship of the product line through these pictures and a well-laid out catalogue.  Our web site will also be consistently updated as we  add new products to our line of quality, handcrafted metal work.  If you have submitted your name and address for a catalogue in the past, we ask for your continued patience, as we will be sending them out shortly!  If you would like to receive a catalog, please let us know by sending your mailing information to info@badgervillage.com

New Works

The Antique Door Knocker was created as a custom piece for a customer that wanted a reproduction of a doorknocker they had discovered buried on their property.  This piece was a first for John in the line of custom work, and it turned out to be an attractive and fine addition to our portfolio!

A new Art Series piece!  The Sea Bell was a custom piece designed and crafted by Steve as an example of art and uniqueness.  The bell has a clear tone when struck by the hammer and the detail of the sea bell was carefully forged to make it a creative work of art.  It was completed with a silver finish.
