Bed
Production Diary- September, 2004
Take an inside look into the production of a current commission on the floor at Badger Village! Get a glimpse of the skills and processes required to create handcrafted forgework.
This commission is now completed and I am in the process of putting the finishing touches on it and getting it crated for truck shipment to the East Coast. I will be posting the working drawing and many more detail photos as time permits in the next week or two.

Part 1- Framework
Part 2- Scrolls
Part 3- Collars
Part 4- Leaves/Flowers/Sunburst
Part 5- Sunburst Frame/Assembly/Forming Vines
The following sets of photos show the final stages of production for the bed. The first set shows a simple solution for an otherwise difficult forging for creating the arched framework for the sunburst. The second shows the progression of attaching the flowers to the vine work so that the joint becomes invisible. The third shows the attachment and forming of the vertical vines and includes a progression showing one of the wrapped collars being completed. The final photo on the page is of the completed head board!
